George Braitberg AM OStJ, is an emergency physician, toxicologist, and medical administrator for over 37 years, is Deputy Head Department of Critical Care, University of Melbourne (UoM) and Professor/Director of Emergency Medicine Research at Austin Health. He is the Course Convenor for the Grad Cert in Disaster and Terror Medicine at UoM. He is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Toxicology, ACEM, and RACMA and holds Masters degrees in Bioethics and Health Services Management, and a Grad Diploma in Biostatistics/Epidemiology. His research interests include disaster and terror medicine, toxicology, ethical decision-making, and acute emergencies. He has over 100 published journal papers and book chapters. He was awarded the Order of Australia (AM) in 2018, Officer of the Order of St John (OStJ) in 2019, and the ACEM Service Award in 2018. He advocates for the pivotal role emergency physicians have in addressing geopolitical global challenges and climate change.
