Prior to the College Ceremony

Family and friends are more than welcome to participate in the College Ceremony. Guest attendance is not limited, however ACEM Events must be notified of any decrease/increase to guest numbers that were specified on the initial invite acceptance form.

Amendments to guest tickets to the College Ceremony can be notified at events@acem.org.au.

ACEM College Ceremony

New Members/Award Recipient Sign-in

As a new member/award recipient, you must sign in at the College Ceremony registration desk prior to the Ceremony, between 1:45pm and 3:10pm.
If you do not sign in by 3:10pm, your name will be removed from the Order of Proceedings.

All new members and award recipients will have their photo taken on stage with the College President, Dr Stephen Gourley. *This photo will be supplied to all participants free of charge post-ceremony (please note these photos are not part of the Portrait Photography sessions).

Photographer

We are pleased to advise that a professional photographer will be available onsite. Bookings are essential if you do not want to miss out on pictures with your guests on the day. Please use this link to secure your booking. A booking payment is required at time of booking with all photography fees paid directly to Reed Events.

Those who have not pre-booked prior to the College Ceremony will still be able to have a portrait picture taken if you wish, however priority will be given to pre-bookings and there will be a strict cut-off time of 3:05pm.

Briefing and Seating

All new members/award recipients participating in the College Ceremony will be required to attend a briefing and seating session between 3:10pm and 3:30pm. Note that guests will not be seated at this stage, they will be called in at 3:30pm as per the ‘Timetable of Events’ above.

Dress code

The dress code for the College Ceremony is smart casual. Academic dress is not usually worn; however, you are welcome to bring your own gown if you wish to. An ACEM gown will be available at the photography booths for those new fellows who wish to be photographed with one on.

The Ceremony

During the College Ceremony, each new member/award recipient will be called on stage and will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Dr Stephen Gourley, ACEM President.

Other members of the ACEM Council of Education and ACEM Board will be in attendance.

Optional Events

ACEM New Fellows Workshop

This half-day workshop with interactive sessions and activities aims to assist new FACEMs with their transition to consultant life. Hear from FACEMs about their experiences, gain practical skills and knowledge, and network with other new Fellows.

Workshop: 8:30am – 12:30pm (ACDT)
Networking lunch: 12:30pm – 1:30pm (ACDT)

Please note that this workshop is only open to Fellows of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine elected to Fellowship since November 2021 – November 2024.

Welcome Reception

The College Ceremony will be followed by a Welcome Reception at the Adelaide Convention Centre, for delegates registered to attend the 2024 Annual Scientific Meeting. If you are not attending the ASM but would like to attend the Welcome Reception, you must register.

Important to note: There will be a cost associated with this booking of $150.00 p/person for adults and $50.00 p/child.

FAQs

Q: I am no longer able to attend the College Ceremony, who should I contact?

A: Prior to Sunday 24 November, please email events@acem.org.au. On the day of the event, please text the ACEM Events Team on +61 433 916 407. Make sure to include your Full Name (not your preferred name) and Surname, and your ACEM ID number.

Q: I am a breastfeeding mum; do you have a room where I can pump?

A: Yes. The Parents Room is called Skyway Meeting Room 3 (S3) and can be located on the Upper Level which is accessible via the stairs, escalator, and lifts. Please use this link to view the location and click on the yellow level.

Q: I or my guest/s have access requirements, who should I notify?

A: Please email the ACEM Events Team at the above email address so that they can make sure you or your guest/s are comfortably accommodated.

Q: Do I get to sit with my guests?

A: No, all participants will be seated in allocated seating. Due to high guest attendance numbers, participants will need to return to this seating after receiving their certificate or award. Please refer to the final email which will be sent just prior to the event or speak to the registration desk team if you have a question.

Q: Can I leave the Ceremony after I have received my certificate or award?

A: No, we ask that all attendees remain in the auditorium for the duration of the College Ceremony.

Q: How many people can I bring along as guests to the College Ceremony?

A: Guest attendance is not limited, however ACEM Events must be notified of any decrease/increase to guest numbers that were specified on the initial invite acceptance form. Please use the same email address as above for notification.

Q: Will the College Ceremony be livestreamed this year?

A: No, we will not be offering a livestream view for 2024.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Smart casual attire (formal academic dress is not required)

Q: When will I receive my portrait photographs that I booked with the photographer?

A: Proofs will be emailed to your registered email address directly from the photographer within 48 hours of the event. An App is currently being built which may replace this procedure so please keep an eye on your inbox post-event with further instructions.
