This is an introductory workshop into the basics of executive coaching for doctors. The presenter has trained as an Executive Coach and run previous coaching workshops in various hospitals to help doctors learn the basics of coaching and how to apply them in daily practice with patients, JMOs and colleagues.
Outcomes
After this workshop, participants will have:
A clear understanding of what coaching is and how it differs to mentoring (but can be extremely useful when mentoring) and how it can be utilised to improve dealing with patients, JMOs and colleagues, as well as the personal benefits that can come from having a coach and being coached.
Workshop structure
The workshop will consist of a talk by the presenter for approximately 30 minutes outlining the concepts behind executive coaching. Then the participants will be divided into groups of three for a practical coaching session. They will take turns to coach each other, observe the coaching process and to be coached. They will be provided with resources to help them do this and the presenter will move between groups facilitating these.
